Squirrels are definitely evil incarnate. And they are masters of disguise and misdirection. Just because what you are looking at doesn't look like a squirrel doesn't mean it isn't a squirrel.

For instance I saw a squirrel jump into the laurel bush at the foot of the garden the other day. Much rustling ensued and a pheasant came out which promptly started pecking at some freshly planted shrubs. Better half was furious, and naturally enough blamed the pheasant which by then retreated back into the laurel bush. Rustling ensued and squirrel appeared back on top of laurel. "Awww. Look at the cute squirrel." said other half.

They're all evil I tell you.
