I read some reviews on GR that say the same. It's quite a unique book. I'm going with audiobook version narrated by Simon Prebble, and it's really superb on that front. Pace is slow however, with characteristic style and overwhelming details sometimes (footnotes lol). But I really adore English mythology and I really like that part. Well 200 pages in....I'm not sure it will be my favorite, but I'm not an anti-fan yet
