Kobo always charges sales tax on any books by the big six...at least they do for me. (I'm in the U.S.) It doesn't matter where I buy them, any books from HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Penguin, Macmillan, Hachette & Random House. I always get charge sales tax.
If I buy a book from Random House I get charge a Sales and County tax. I first noticed this when buying from Kobo. I think this is why Random House sales tax is always higher than the other five.
For awhile last year Kobo charge me sales and county tax on every purchase.
It finally stopped last fall and now only get charge sales tax on the Big Six books.
