Also make sure your network is not protected in which case you need enter the password and type of protection (wep, wpa, wpa2 etc..)

Another thing you need to do is check if your network has mac address filtering on (this is part of your modem/router firewall settings)
If it does then you need to add the mac address of your reader to the list of allowed addresses in the modem/router.
