Are there any issues with either device working with Calibre? Can you turn off the Wifi on the Kindle and the Aura?

I came from a mainly Sony background where Sony/calibre integration is fantastic so I was a bit apprehensive when I bought a Kobo. I need not have worried, the Kobo/calibre support is also excellent and is constantly having new features added.
I also sideload all books via calibre so I have never switched on the Wi-fi on either of my 2 Kobos.
