The default place to search depends on your current location:
If you are in the bookstore, default is to search the bookstore.
If you ae in the library, default is to search the library.
If you are in a book, default is to search for a word in the book.
The change with 2.6.1 just happens when you are at the home screen. Previous default was to search the library, 2.6.1 default is to search the bookstore.
