As taming said, there won't be any problem. Calibre only knows about the device when it is connected. You plug you Touch in and send the books to it that you want to read. Eject it and then plug your friends Mini in and send books to it.

About the only issue is shelves. If you manage them from calibre for your Touch, the friends Mini will get the same set of shelves. To prevent that, you need to change the driver configuration for shelves.

If you want to manually sideload the books, just copy the book files. The rest of the contents of the calibre directories will be ignored if you put them on the Mini. The cover the device shows is the first page of the epub.

If you decide to do it manually, I would recommend not copying the books from the calibre directory structure. Select the books in calibre and do a "Save to disk" to somewhere on your computer. Then copy these books to your friends Mini. The reason to do this is that calibre will update the metadata and cover in the books as part of the save to disk.
