I was able to download the rest of my books at the restaurant while at lunch so my Kindle works just fine
I will reboot my router and my modem for good mesure when I get home tonight, it's what Kindle troubleshooting recommends. Will let you know if it works in the hope that it will help somebody else with the same problem
