I didn't notice it at first, but now that you point it out I do. It seems like a new feature that comes with its own new bug. Refreshing the screen on the first page turn to clear the shadow from the sleep screen would be a feature, but refreshing just before turning the page would seem to be a bug.
Edit: It occurs with kepubs as well as epubs.
