On my first PW, I could clearly see pink & green blotches in bright daylight with the light at 11... I wouldn't quite call that having the light too bright
(what I'd describe as the "usable" range of the light on that PW was between 6 and 9 and pretty much unusable in anything other than good ambient lighting...Not really acceptable) The replacement does not have that problem and also has a much clearer, brighter screen overall
So there definitely are some duds out there that should have never left the factory. It's a bit disappointing to see from the OP that they still haven't really tightened QC as it seems that duds are still being shipped out - buying a PW shouldn't be a lottery.
