When Virginia Woolf was preparing
To The Lighthouse for the press, she edited two versions - one for the UK and one for the US. She was in the habit of rewriting as she went and when they were finally published there were a considerable number of differences between them.
This version, taken (with permission) from
EbookClassics.org.uk, is based originally on the Project Gutenberg text, which is an odd mixture of the two editions. It also contains several hundred scanning errors.
It has been proofread, corrected and checked against the UK edition published by the Hogarth Press. There is an interesting account of the process in their blog.
