Factory reset, means go back to what was installed when it came out of the factory. It does an install from the recover partition. This contains a copy of the factory installed firmware.
For the Glo, the factory firmware was 2.1.2. You probably never saw this as the firmware gets updated during the setup. I think that 2.1.4 was out when the Glo was actually released.
Newer Glo's might have newer factory firmware. I know the Touch has different versions depending on when they were made.
