Originally I had a large number of ebooks in the pdb (Palm) format and the First Gen nook supported it. I also liked the expandable memory and hated the keyboard on the first Kindle. I've stuck with nook because I like the reader. Should the nook brand go under, I'll probably switch to Kobo, just to stick with epub.
