Having completed the "Inspector Alleyn" series by Ngaio Marsh, I'm now starting to read the whole of Agatha Christie's non-romance works in order. Her first book was of course "The Mysterious Affair at Styles", published in 1920 (but set during WWI), in which we are first introduced to Hercule Poirot, via his regular "sidekick-to-be", Captain Hastings. We also meet Inspector Japp of Scotland Yard, another regular (and not only in the Poirot books; he also shows up in other books, too). An excellent book; a wealthy old lady dies from strychnine poisoning. Who did the deed? Although I've read this several times previously, one of the benefits of increasing age and declining memory is that I was still surprised by the outcome .
