I was writing out a note in a card to go along w/ the gift of a fountain pen for our departing intern, a graduating high school student when I caught this. The note seemed adaptable:

``Life is a message written in ink. Write carefully, write beautifully, & write w/ character.''

Congratulations to Jack Vance on a life written w/ care, using beautiful words and w/ a character which shines as an example of what men should aspire to be.

I'd've been a better person if I'd found his books earlier in my life when I was younger and some of the life lessons in them might've had me writing my life more carefully.
