There are web browsers out there that have a "reader mode", which uses heuristics to decide which part of the website is the "main text". Safari has it, Firefox has an addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/reader/) and I'm guessing some other browsers have it.
Once "main text" has been identified, simply showing it (as plaintext) could be the way to go...

I agree it would be a great feature
