This is not a bug but rather a limitation of the eInk display technology. See "ghosting". If you are really bothered, you can can set page refresh to 1 in Settings => Page Refresh from the default of 6. You'll get the white/black/white flash between each page. Some people are more annoyed by that than the ghosting.

If you really want to lose the cover display, edit the affiliate.conf file in the .kobo directory in the root of the builtin storage. Change the affiliate= line to read affiliate=fnac to give you the FNAC logo on your sleep and power off screens.
