After I inserted the SD card into the booted ereader, it took the same 15 minutes minimum on the Aura before it would finish mounting the SD card and show the contents.

Thanks, David. Glad it's not just me.
I'm not sure why I can't power it down when it's like this, but nothing seems to work right now except plugging it into the PC.
I got aggravated and decided to sideload 2.5.1 from April, so we'll see how that works. Right now it's processing my books.
Edit: Okay, that seems to have worked--my Kobo is on, it's not plugged into the PC, it processed all the books on my SD and I can access them. Fingers crossed.
That being said, can somebody who passes this sort of thing on to the powers that be let them know about this issue?
