I'm having the same problem. It only started when I got the newest firmware. It's also takes forever to turn the pages in my library. I counted and the last time it took 15 seconds to turn the page.
Nothing to do with the cover but I will try to turn a page while reading, it won't do anything, I tap the side again and it turns two pages.
I had this problem before but it was my fault and I had forgotten to make Calibre upload the cover.
