Using my reader with some plastic cover wouldn't be very appealing.

My suggestions:
1. get a cheap reader like the Kobo mini for bathtub and outdoor use to minimize the financial impact if a disaster occurs
2. the new Sony Xperia Z tablet is waterproof and survives being submerged completely. Obviously that would be quite a pricey device for exclusive use in the bathroom.
