Can I make a strange sounding suggestion? Instead of oil, use water mixed with a few drops of dishwashing soap. (Assuming the stones you will use are new and have not been oiled before.) You'll find the sharpening will progress MUCH faster, and the clean-up afterwards just a 20 second process.
