@BetterRed: The empty book row is quite a good idea - you also immediately know which title is missing, especially useful when the books are not part of a series. It should be easy enough to set up a search showing there are no formats for a particular book, saves using a special column called "missing".
Seems to me quite a few people have a number of reasons for wanting an author table.
