Google is a service provider mostly I hope this leads to Google introducing an api for developers of reader apps to download, view, sync and buy from Google books as well as pay commissions on ebook purchased through those apps.
Currently with so many apps having so many different stores the Android ebook market is extremely fragmented this would make google a force in the ebook world. And might even force Amazon at least to introduce an api for other apps other than kindle to buy, read and sync kindle ebooks.
