I had seen the video on repairing a K3 with a broken screen, and bought one just to see if I could do it. Unfortunately, I misread or misremembered the price of the replacement screen, and I paid as much for the repaired one as if I'd got a bargain on a working one from eBay. Still the sense of accomplishment is worth something, neh?
Although there are times when the on-screen keyboard is a PITA, and I sometimes miss the audio component, and there's no 3G, and the storage is half the size I, personally, prefer the Paperwhite.
When did they finally stop selling the KKs? I would have sworn that they were still offering them the last time I looked, but I didn't look any closer so I can't say if they were new or refurbished. (shrugs)
I was really pleased with the service from PowerbookMedic. The prices for all the parts are pretty much dirt cheap, except for the screens. Of course, when you think about it, that's the most fragile part of any of the Kindles, and the part everybody breaks... knock on wood.
