Funny enough, I just got to my office and found out my system administrator was wrong - I don't even need to put the proxy settings into the system settings. Setting the proxy up in my browser alone works just fine. Oh well, now I know! Thanks for letting me know about that anyway - maybe it'll be useful in the future!
