I'm not sure if I agree that it is core functionality. Dropping support for cbr/cbz or dropping the ARM renderer for epubs so ADEPT DRMed epubs are no longer usable would be what I would consider core functionality. Losing 2 of the 5 lines I gained going to the Aura? An annoyance but not core functionality.
