I never said something about wanting the Aura to be "entirely in line with my preferences".

I just don't see the benefit of taking away options from users when everyone keeps asking for more options, not less.

It's stupid because it unnessecarily takes away an option - which is, like I said, something many users ask for: options. Not to listen to customers is not exactly a bright idea in my book.

And in a product that is aimed and marketed towards the "advanced" user and that comes with a (somewhat) customizable home screen less options is not a good idea.

That's my opinion. You are entitled to your own, of course.

If I were buying a million dollar home, I'd feel entitled to be pretty picky. The particulars of a home screen on an ereader, well, I can live with some variance from what might be my own ideal.
But it's a problem for you that I want to keep the possibility to dismiss any tile I don't want? Shouldn't you care even less about my preferences than about the homescreen of your reader?

Of course I will be able to live with it. It just doesn't make sense to me to take that possibility away.

Fortunately, if I don't like a particular product, for any reason at all, I am free to purchase one from another company that I like more.
Good for you that you've never disliked any changes in the firmware of a product you already had...

I don't dislike Kobo or I wouldn't have bought the Aura after having been very happy with my Touch. And of course I don't dislike my Aura just because I can't dismiss that one tile (for now... who knows what will be going on in the future... more tiles you can't dismiss... or maybe you'll be able to dismiss sync again in a future update...).

I will surely not sell or return my Aura just because of one tile on the homescreen I don't want or need.

But how could I have known that the sync tile would be irremovable in a future firmware when buying the Aura?

Again: it's stupid IMHO, but nothing I can not live with. I am living with the loss of the "shortlist hearts" and shortlist on the home screen of my Touch and many things more that have been taken away or added in places I never wanted them to be (like the wishlist on the homescreen).

Funny thing is that I've always said "oh, I can deal with that", "ah, no problem", "no reason not to buy a Kobo" (if someone asked me) - and now there's one thing I complain about and am told off because of that.
