In my opinion, the Cybook Gen3 is also worth mentioning. Its PDF support isn't as good as the Sony Readers (no reflow) or the Iliad (smaller screen), but as of the latest firmware update, it's usable. The Cybook has the huge advantage of being dead simple to use (it's rather minimalistic with no excess features except for MP3 support) and rather lightweight.
HTML shouldn't be an issue with any device, to my knowledge it's well supported by all of them. RTF may require some conversion, but is supported, as I've heard, in a pretty barebones fashion on the Sony Reader.
