What does consumer law say where you live?
In Australia, a "major problem with a product" means that the consumer is entitled to their choice of refund, replacement, or repair (though I doubt companies would get in much trouble offering replacement over repair). I don't know whether your issues would constitute a major enough problem to qualify for refund over replacement, though, especially since you plan to purchase another one anyhow.
