ONIX is not internal to the epub standard, but it certainly is recognized by it. epub3 includes several hooks to ONIX (c.f. http://www.idpf.org/epub/30/spec/epu...-metadata-elem).

Soo.... still sounds like a "no" but a boy can dream.
