Got mine today - after a little while playing with it a few thoughts.
Like the screen, especially the resolution.
Like the speed - feels faster than my touch and definitely faster than the mini.
Like the shape although see comment about cover.
Like the new homepage.
This is my first frontlit reader and still getting used to it. First real test will be tonight in bed. Light looks nice and even though.
Build is solid - no rattling.
First problem was that I opened an kepub of the NIV bible and it would navigate within the book but wouldn't go back to the home screen. Had to do a reset with the power button and haven't tried that book since.
PDF viewing - not a biggy for me - OK. Much better once I changed the refresh to every screen. Also discovered that after zooming and scrolling it helps to tap once, pause, then tap again - this forces a refresh. Have looked at a couple of tech manuals and graphic novel. OK but not going to replace my tablet.
General reading experience - good. It's like my other Kobo's really just faster and looks more polished. Fonts look better smaller because of the resolution but I'm keeping them relatively big due to my eyesight (smaller than I have on the Touch though).
A couple of regrets:
I chose the white version on a whim (all my other ereaders are black or grey). Kinda wish I hadn't because it makes the eInk background look more grey by contrast. However if I turn on the light then it becomes white so that's OK.
I bought the official sleep cover. It's nice in that it fits really well and sleep/wake bit works. Doesn't feel like the quality I'd expect for the price. Also the flap gets in the way of holding it and if you bend it around back you lose the effect of the contour. May stop using it and get a generic sleeve for carrying it around and use it naked otherwise.
Overall happy though.
