I have my "Historical Fiction" book shelf set to sort by Author. Within this shelf I have a lot of series, as well as stand alone books by the same series author. But the Kobo Aura is displaying such that books in a series are "broken up" by other books from the same author, such that they are displayed first by author, then by title, instead of keeping a series together.

So, for example, I have the the "Saxon Chronicles" series by Bernard Cornwell (consists of 6 books, all on my Kobo), as well as other books by Bernard Cornwell, both stand alones and series. My metadata plugboard for the KoboTouchExtended plugin is set up as {series}{series_index:0>2s| - | - }{title}, with the destination field set to Title. Here's how it displays in my Historical Fiction book shelf on the Kobo Aura:

Not sure if this will be much help but that looks like the complaint for the last while about Kobo removing the series sort in one of the firmware updates.

David

PS: My personal answer was to edit my books in Sigil and add the series information to the title of the book. This had been my standard practice for a while.
