Yes, just plug the provided micro USB cable into an USB AC wall charger that you already have. Also - and this takes a lot of getting used to! - when you connect the Kobo to the computer, a dialogue box will appear on the Kobo screen. You must select "Connect" for the computer to recognize the device, otherwise, like you said it just sits there doing nothing Once you tap "Connect" the screen will then change to "Connected & Charging" or "Connected & Charged" (will depend on your battery state).
