I have the instructions.
1. Download/install Kindle reader.
2..D/l install and run Calibre. Download the plugins. In Calibre click Preferences. Under Advanced click Plugins.
3. Click Load Plugin from file, then navigate to where you unzipped the Calibre plugins. Choose xxxxxxxx.zip and click Open.
It says you unzip ... so you see my issue? When I try to unzip, it gives errors on every file.
I redid it and they opened. So all is good, right?
Nope. It says to go to Windows Explorer. When I search for that and click on it, it brings up Libraries.
So I go into Kindle reader and it says local content is in users/me/documents/Kindle Content. I try computer/users/me/MyDocuments but it is empty. But the Kindle Reader program has 1,300 titles...
I'm supposed to find Kindle Content type files and drag them to Calibre window.
Files should now be unlocked (backing up Kindle content to my laptop).
So I'm close but not there yet. Calibre "help" you can always ask for help, in the very active calibre forum at mobileread.com, or on the Facebook calibre fan page, or at #calibreforum on Twitter. I don't twit, Facebook seems to be for fans, and I'm here. Nothing to do with Tools. I got the plugin at Calibre yet they seem to not offer help other than telling you to go elsewhere.
BTW, I got this info in PCWorld Mag, May 2013 issue.
