Calibre does lots of things that ARE NOT relevant to my device nor my Library. I imagine your usage will have the same.
We are ALL DIFFERENT in our usage:

keep original formats, even if I make a conversion
I
keep formats for all my devices
My preferred Cover (size) is 300px wide (smaller file size that still looks reasonable in the cover browser)
99.99% of my Library is Fiction.
I don't (could not even do so on my PEZ
) annotate
