I chose the Epic because of its physical keyboard/touch screen/powerful processor combination. It was Samsung's last flagship model with keyb; besides which, the DAC actually sounds better than that of later Samsung models stateside. For equal or better sound without a DAC, you need the international S3/S4/Note2 and a carrier like T-Mobile.

The original Evo had the same specs as the Epic, if I recall correctly. I know I compared the two but decided to stick with the slide-out keyboard and familiar UI. Also, I have a weakness toward anything Samsung, which gave it an extra boost.

The EVO 3D didn't come out until six or eight months after the Epic 4G was released. (My husband bought an Epic 4G the week it launched.) The 3D was not available even when I bought my phone; I remember when I saw the first previews for it, I had already had my new phone for a while.
