MY friend, I might be wrong here, but it seems to me that in the old days MS pushed Outlook on to the customer. Nowadays I believe that they consider it something special that you pay extra for so it is a separate item and maybe that is why you can un-check the installation.

Likewise I think you used to pay extra for Power Point but now it is included in the base package.

Just a reversal of tactics.
