I'd like to add a big thank you to LeserattePD for organising this. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to try out the readers, but more importantly, get tips and advice from enthusiasts.
Special thanks to: Mrraiw, richyhu, ec1matt and of course Laseratte PD, It was great to meet you all.
If anyone is up for a challenge (nothing extreme, just making things really idiot proof for a non techie) I am still struggling to convert a new book so I can import it into my ebookwise 1150.
Progress so far:
I've used ConvertLit to de-drm it.
I'm a windows user so I know have a file titled: CleanTechRevolution[1].downconverted
sitting in a folder titled, 'My Library'.
I've downloaded the 7 day evaluation version of GEB eBook Librarian.
Thus far haven't been able to get it to convert the file...
Errors occurred during conversion, no ebook was created.
Errors whilst performing intermediate formatting
Steve Breen (Librarian helpdesk), kindly responded to my 'help' email:
Hey Dave,
The LIT format is not explicitly supported, but here's a page that might help a bit with OPF conversions (the internal ms reader format)
http://www.breeno.org/eBook/extconv2.html
The link shows how to 'set up' the Librarian.
I did that, (although the link shows a different screen to the one I see in Librarian) and, this was the output:
Failed to run external converter. Cannot continue.
Thinking Outside The Box - outsourcing my conversion!
If anyone would like to email me, I will happily send them the ebook (lit file) which I purchased for £8.
It will be of great interest if you'd like to get up to speed on what's 'up and coming' in the new 'clean' technology (solar etc) arena.
Any if anyone can return me a converted file, that I can load into my 1150, then I'll be very grateful.
If I don't get this sorted soon, I fear my reader is going to look rather like Laseratte PD's
Ever hopeful...
Dave
