Microsoft wants people to use Windows 8 in a certain way, and many users don't want to use it that way. It's a solution in search of a problem. I use it at work, but I added a free start menu and spend my time in the desktop. Adding a start menu and allowing people to boot right into the desktop are small things that would satisfy a number of people.
