I have voted for the last option, so here is an explanation.

I read pdf files on a pc. PERIOD.
The vast majority of pdf documents I read is non-fiction.

If the pdf is fiction that I really, REALLY want to read on my e-ink reader I extract the text and put it into rtf file with my preferred layout.
