Just came across this old post. I added statements in the opf
dic.opf to enable pop up searches and recompiled it:

Interestingly, when I set up the language of the book and the input language of the dictionary to latin
la(1142) using Java Mobi Metadata editor the pop up doesn't work. It works fine with the (current, but wrong) hebrew
he(13). Wonder why?
