No, the person wasn't a fictional character, but he was one of many actors to portray the fictional Count Dracula on the big screen. He was born František Lederer in Prague, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary in what is now part of the Czech Republic, but was much better known as Francis Lederer. He first portrayed Dracula in the 1958 film, The Return of Dracula, and 13 years later reprised his role for an episode of Rod Sterling's Night Gallery entitled, "The Devil Is Not Mocked" (hence the wording of the clue).

Although he was successful in many other roles, the real reason why his portrayal of Dracula was particularly apt was that his life—like the undead vampire he played on screen—spanned several centuries; in Lederer's case, three. He was born on November 6, 1899 and died May 25, 2000.
