OK, thanks to help on here so far I am using calibre and convertlit to get books not in the sony format. I read that you cannot use the sony software if you use calibre so how does one get new firmware updates? Do I just install the sony software and run it occasionally?

Also I assume the new UK 505s don't need an update out of the box?
