Los Angeles is served by a whole slew of different telephone companies. One of the results is that often you may be calling someone on the next block but because the call goes through two different providers, it is billed as a long distance call. At the same time, you might be phoning someone clear across town and it's charge as a local call. Does this happen in the UK?
