you can stop more stuff, so the processes don't consume CPU:
stop framework
stop x
stop otaupd
stop phd
stop tmd
stop lipcd
sleep 5
/mnt/us/koreader/koreader.sh /mnt/us/documents &
I get absolutely no outgoing connection whatsoever now.
