What you're describing is what's called "the rule of the shorter term". Some countries implement it as part of their copyright law; others don't. Our board owner, Alex, is Swiss, and for legal reasons he now needs to bring MR fully into compliance with Swiss copyright law, which unfortunately does not implement the rule of the shorter term. Hence I'm afraid we need to make the MR library strictly "life+70" compliant.
