This is a feature that is oddly asymmetrical about iPads. Apple's "camera connection kit" makes it a breeze to load photos from a memory card onto an iPad. But no reverse feature is supported to offload from the iPad to a memory card or, say, a portable hard drive.

E-mailing seems to be the most common method to get photos off. Keep in mind you don't need an e-mail for every photo. Depending on their size you can e-mail, say, ten attached to one e-mail.
