I'm not knowledgeable about this, but have read some articles that talk about how in general there is a limit to the power that you can draw from a usb hub. So, for example, if you have multiple usb ports on the back of your pc, they are probably on the same power quota. Whatever unpowered usb devices you have are drawing all their power via usb, and together they may be too much. I guess PPC devices take a lot?

Have you tried unplugging any other connected usb devices to see if the error still occurs?
