This is total bullshit - a beat-up. I have already moved two licences from three year old notebooks to new i7 laptops. All it took was a call to Microsoft support and they quickly and politely issued new keys.

In this country (Australia) what is suggested would be in breach of the Australian Trade Practice Act. It would bring massive fines to Microsoft. Here, if you buy something - you own it and can do what you like with it. It has to be, and remain, "Fit for the purpose for which it was purchased".
