rem736, you probably have the same problem that I have.
After you press joystick and switch on your M92, you should see lines like "update request detected ... checking updates", then if things go right, it should turns into "updating..." and that is the actual updating process which should take minutes.
However, on my machine, no "updating..." thing shows up, i.e., the machine did not detect the firmware zip file. Instead, my machine rebooted soon into the default system, and the firmware is still 1.8 201212..
I believe that might be what happened to you. But in your case, the detecting took "a few minutes" while in my case it took only about ten seconds before rebooting. What are shown at the bottom of your screen when you flash the firmware?
I tried a 16gb Transcend sd card. I also checked the md5 of the zip file and check for errors on the sd card and everything looks fine. The firmware just did not get detected.
Hope my case is helpful.
